"My Home" mani #4: Going Garland!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today's the fourth mani in the "My Home" Digit-al Dozen theme for this month...Right now a big aspect of my home is Christmas decorations, and for the first time this year, I decided to try out garland over my fireplace. I used to love having Christmas candles on my mantle, but my darling swarm litter of kitties destroys everything they come in contact with, and them + open flames  = burned down house. I've waited several years for them to outgrow the crazy, but I've had to come to terms with the fact that just isn't going to happen.

So, for this manicure, I started with a base of Girly Bits Irreplaceable, and stamped it with UberChic Beauty Texture-licious 2 with Sally Hansen Gone Grey to simulate my fireplace, and stamped the garland with Bunny Nails HD-F. I used a fill-in technique for the garland; I first stamped with Messy Mansion Forest, then filled in the leaves with the same color, then stamped a second time over it with Messy Mansion Carbon. You can do the same thing by creating a decal or with a reversed-stamp technique, but this a little faster than a decal and a little more precise in terms of application than reversed stamping, in my opinion. Then I added dots of Messy Mansion Red-y Or Not layered with dots of Chalk for holly berries, and dots of Sterling for the lights in the garland.

Here's how it came out:

I love this look, with the holly as a sort of French tip. What do you think?

"My Home" mani #3: Hello, Paris

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today's the third mani in the "My Home" Digit-al Dozen theme for this month...I mentioned before that red is a recurring color in my house design, and in fact, there's only one room in my house that doesn't feature it in some respect--my bathroom. The colors in there are blue, green, and white, and the theme is Paris, because I love Paris and dream of someday living there for a couple of years.

For my mani, I started with a skittle of Spellbound Nails' Great Lake over Milky Way, Milky Way on its own, and Twilight's last gleaming, and Sinful Colors Show Me The Way. I used a dry-brush technique to decorate my index and thumb, and then stamped images from UberChic Beauty's Paris In Love plate with Sally Hansen Gone Grey and Messy Mansion Carbon:

What do you think? Is there a city or country you'd love to live in for a year or two? And are you crazy enough about it to decorate your bathroom based on it!?

"My Home" mani #2: Four Cats and a Dog

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today's the second mani in the "My Home" Digit-al Dozen theme for this month, and today we're going to take a look at the little beasties that live in my home--because, let's face it, it's really their house, and I'm just livin' in it. If you don't already know, I have a dog and four cats, and it's quite a menagerie...

For my mani, I started with a base of Spellbound Nails' Rockets' Red Glare, because almost every room in my house has some red element in it--curtains, or a wall, or a bedspread, you get the idea. I love red.

Then I used Marianne Nails N. 20 to stamp images my doggie--she's a white-and-tan pitbrador (pit bull/labrador mix)--and my cats (three black and one silver). I surrounded the dog with the cats, and I stamped 'cat' behind the cats, but put question marks behind the dog, because that's a pretty accurate representation of how the power is distributed--she may weigh more than all of the cats together, but they own her. Like legit, full on pwnage.

I stamped with Sally Hansen Sand Storm, and Messy Mansion Carbon and Chalk:

What do you think? Are you a dog person, a cat person, or do you reject the binary like I do? ;-)

"My Home" mani #1: My kitchen

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

I mentioned a while back that I've been wanting to rejoin some nail art challenges--right when I made the decision, I was invited to join The Digit-al Dozen, a group I've followed for ages! Each month The Digit-al Dozen does a week of five manis within the theme, and this month's theme is 'My Home'.

For my first entry, I decided to do a mani based on the way my kitchen is decorated, because it's a pretty good reflection of things I love.

I started with a base of Zoya Sheri, Messy Mansion Pudding, and Sally Hansen Sand Storm, because my colors in the kitchen are red, brown and beige. I stamped the stripe-and-dot pattern from Winstonia Holly Jolly plate because that's the pattern on my curtain dust ruffle, and I stamped the coffee images from UberChic Beauty Coffee Addict and MoYou London Cookbook Collection 03 because I have coffee-themed decorations in the kitchen. I stamped with Messy Mansion Pudding and Chalk, and did my dots with Sally Hansen Sand Storm:

So what do you think? And, do you have a color you love to use in your decorating?

Stay tuned tomorrow to see another big aspect of my home...And in the meantime, check out the other ladies' manis, linked below.

Dixie Plates Nail Gems 01!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to take a brief break from holiday manis to look at Dixie Plates Nail Gems 01, a plate designed to help you create 3D-nail art with all your awesome gems, but can also make beautiful designs without them. Here's the video review I did of the plate:

And here's a closer look at the plate:

Dixie Plates Nail Gems 01

What's special about this plate: Settings for jewels!!! Use them for actual rhinestones and 3D gems, or make decals to create your own jewelry. My particular favorites are the flowers with the spaces for a little rhinestone or half-pear to accent them.

The images are all different sizes, so here's a shot with a ruler to help you decide if it'll work for you:

Hey, how about quality? Let's take a look:

These swatches were done with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Plummet, and my clear stamper. Fine lines, thick lines, a combination of the two--great quality images. :)

For my first manicure, I wanted to do a manicure to show off some awesome turquoise-y gems I've had forever...I started with a base of Sally Hansen Teal Good, then created a marble to match the gem with Dixie Plates' Marbled 01 plate and Messy Mansion Carbon and Chalk. I stamped my gem setting with  Messy Mansion Sterling, and filled it in with Shinespark Polish Moondust (a holo topper) to give the illusion of crushed diamonds:

I love how this came out--like a gorgeous piece of turquoise jewelry right on my nails!

For my second manicure, I wanted to try something a bit different with that gorgeous dragonfly image. I made a promise to myself recently that I'd free up space in my line-up to get back into nail art challenges--I love them so much, but never seem to have time to do them anymore. So this is my jump back in--the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas group has 'bugs and insects' as its theme this week, so I jumped all over that dragonfly image!

I started with a skittle of The Lady Varnishes Broken Carousel and Dragon (over Sally Hansen Blacky O undies), then stamped with Messy Mansion Sterling and Soft Gold. Then I accented two of the dragonflies with half-beads in gold and silver:

I am soooo happy with how this mani turned out! It's like magical creature in an enchanted forest. Can somebody please make me a dress with these colors and patterns?!?!!!! But if dragonflies aren't your thing, check out the manicures done by the other participants, linked below. :)

Dixie Plates Christmas 2017!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Are you in the holiday spirit yet? I decorated my tree today--but we'll see how long it stays up before the beasties destroy it. My husband and I make a game out of guessing how many ornaments we'll find on the floor when we get up. It'd probably be more accurate to try to guess how many are *left* on the tree.

Thankfully, they haven't yet found a way to destroy my nail plates, so let's talk about Dixie Plates Christmas 2017, which is filled with holiday awesomeness. Here's the video review I did of the plate:

And here's a closer look:

Dixie Plates Christmas 2017

What I love about this plate: Those Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer reindeer! And the gingerbread house! And how adorable is that santa giving that toy to the little girl (or boy, I guess--it could be either). And the mistletoe image...and the antlers!!

Dixie Plates full nail images are 2.1 x 2.5 cm, and here's a shot with a ruler so you can judge whether the smaller images will work for you:

The quality is excellent as always; these swatches are done with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Plummet, and my clear stamper:

For my first manicure, I started with a base of The Lady Varnishes Dragon. Then I stamped over using Messy Mansion Forest, Spring, and Misty Jade:

I stamped in a few extra trees in the empty spaces because I wanted a more crowded look--I love the retro feel of this, and the golden-green shimmer and holo flash make this simple, but soooo pretty. :)

For my second manicure, I started with a base of Shinespark Polish Andromeda Galaxy. Then I made decals using Messy Mansion Sterling, Sally Hansen Get Mod, and Zoya Ming. Then I finished off with a few rhinestones to give my ornaments bling and dimension:

I love the elegance of this one--this makes me feel like I'm staring into a beautifully decorated tree on Christmas Eve.

I made a tutorial for this look if you're interested--there might be a quick tip or two in there. ;-)

UberChic Beauty's Holiday Jingle Plate!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

It's here, it's here! It's Christmastime!! Yay!!!!!!! And that means lots of awesome things, including a new Christmas plate from UberChic Beauty: their Holiday Jingle plate!

Here's the video review I did of the plate:

And here's a closer look:

UberChic Beauty Holiday Jingle

UberChic's full nail images are 1.7 x 2.1 cm, and here are shots with a ruler to help you see if the other images will work for you (click if you need to see them bigger):

And, of course, quality's the thing, so here are some test swatches done with a clear stamper, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Plummet and Re-Teal Therapy:

Very nice, whether fine lines or solid areas. :)

For my first mani, I wanted to take advantage of the negative space Christmas tree image to show off Shinespark Polish O Christmas Tree, because it looks just like, well, a Christmas tree:

I stamped with Messy Mansion Sterling. Oh, and did I mention, this polish is a thermal? Here's what it looks like when it's warm:

For my second mani I was feeling a holiday skittle, so I started with a base of Spellbound Nails Basilisk, and Zoya Levi and Sheri. Then I stamped my images with Messy Mansion Red-y Or Not and Soft Gold:
